High tech vs. Low tech

So many running gadgets what to use to see how far I've run.  When I first started running I would drive along in the car reading the odometer so I would know what 5 km or 10 km.  Then I went on to using a pedometer to see far I was walking.  After that I got an iPhone and with millions and millions of apps to choose from.  The one I used last year was Map My Run.... It was a good app but was missing some features that wish it had.  I used to have to run three different apps at the same time.

Towards the end of the year, a friend and I bought a Garmin watch which will now give me intervals, timing, lap runs.  This brings me to today where I used both the watch and my pedometer.  I found  that my watch was the same as driving around in my car.  I thought it would be fun to see how many steps I take when I run.  It told me that I took over 5000 steps but only 2.5 km.  Just a little bit of a difference.  Guess I will go back to my high tech devices.  Maybe one day they will make an all in one device.
