As I sit on my couch in front of a picture window watching the neighbourhood children playing outside in the warm sunshine I wonder what is today's excuse for not running. Last year 2013 started with a bang....after years of talking about running a marathon and going to Disney to run the Goofy race a friend finally said are you going to do it or are you just all talk. Oh no...Not Me..... I am a put up or shut it kind of girl....the one always up for the dare as long as no one got hurt....the ice is just off the lake and I dare you to jump in (March). So I said lets do it.
Training started that January with 3 half marathons and one marathon race with a big finale to run Goofy in January 2014....I can tell you stories from those runs but Goofy was not going to be. Oh if you think that was the end of Disney run it's not...there is a bigger race call the Dopey one which I WILL be running in 2016 (as long as I can get registered).
After finishing my scheduled races in 2013, I started to get busy with work and travel again. So came the excuses: I worked all day, I just need a break; If I go for a run, I have to have a shower and then go out for dinner.; The day's are getting shorter, I don't want to run in the dark; The treadmill is being used so I will come back later (which I never did); It's Winter....too cold maybe tomorrow. You name it I probably thought of it.
So as I start to write this blog about wanting to Run Boston, one of the most popular, "elite" races in the world, what is my excuse for not getting my running shoes on to start training. I really can't think of one so this is the start of my training to get ready to Run Boston by the time I am 40.
So no excuses. If you read one on this blog, Call me on it. Dare me to run......
